Sara and grant came up today so we could go and visit with Grandma Mary again.
Sara and I probably did this together right at their same ages!
Grandma was alert, although she was in her bed this time. She looked a little better than last time, and just relished in our company.
We didn't stay long, because she hasn't been up for longer than 10-15monute visits, so we left after 20minutes or so. But I think she could have lasted longer for us. She seems to get a high from having children visit. It's a beautiful thing to see.
She sat up to drink a little so we took advantage and took some pictures. The boys were so sweet with her, and she just loves their littleness.
When we were there last week Jose was reading some of these letters and I didn't really look at it much but I did a little today. These letters are from 1965 written by my grandpa to grandma, probably while he was at sea--Navy man. There are so many and they are so sweet. I didn't read any fully because my child was a crazy, but I skimmed a few. He had such a testimony of the gospel and you can even tell in his writting.
I can't imagine how hard it would be to raise kids for months at a time alone while your husband is away on duty. Those women in this world are stronger than I could ever be. I know these letters strengthened her while he was away. He really loved her. I'm sure he is waiting right by her for her time to come so he can take her back home. She is so ready to see him again, she told Sara she was hoping she could go soon.
She told me several times last week that she just wanted to go "home." Sara and I were talking and thought just maybe she wants to go to her permanent home to be with her hubby again.
We hope we still have lots of time with her, but know how peaceful and happy she will be to be reunited, healthy and independent again.
See him back there? He wouldn't come to me to leave. He just kept going back and forth.
We went and got pizza for lunch and went to the delicious bakery Jen introduced us too and had amazing cookies before we headed home.
That bite of spagetti was probably the most luca ate while we were there. This cold is not my favorite.
Sara and Grant just had a few minutes to stay with us before they had to go get Matt from work, and when they left we went out with them, since it's so nice out. Luca ran straight for the road and then laid right down. I have no idea. We waved bye, picked up some trash that got blown around and then headed to go grab some blocks.
We got these Melissa and Doug cardboard blocks from someone in the neighborhood and luca LOVES them. One day I may get more. He just laughed and laughed knocking over all my towers.
They are awesome and so light so they can fall on his head and be fine. Except not when he fell on the corner of one. No blood, but a big scratch on the side of his face/head. Twenty minutes into it. Good omen I'm sure.
He still loves them.
He loves when I stick balls in his shirt. He asks "where they go?" Then laughs and hits them back out, and then lifts his shirt for it to happen again.
Hahaha he was running into the street and I told him no no and her turn and tripped then just stayed laying in the grass like that haha your welcome
