The one with more firsts!

My babe is learning more and more!! He has finally mastered getting a toy in his mouth and will suck and chew on certain toys for a long time.

The orange ball is his absolute favorite. He will sit in his new jumper (thanks to our awesome neighbor!) and just play with that and throw it around. When he chews on them he makes the most hilarious random new noises. A lot of the time you can't tell if he's mad or laughing.

That was the first time I had put him in there, but now we put a blanket down in front of him so he doesn't just fall forward.

Of course he's still too small to reach the floor. So he just dangles in there. But he kicks around a bunch and bounces.

I had a ton of toys hanging off of it-- I mean a ton. There are six loops to hang toys from and every one had a strand almost to the floor. I had a reason for that too--so I could put it in the seat with him but he just throws them out and chews on his ball some more. So. That was pointless.

He seemed a tad overwhelmed at everything too so I took a bunch off and we use them in other parts of the house now.

see my beautiful watch?  I have an obsession lately.

Jose has been having more and more fun with his boy lately. Luca is engaging with us when we talk and play with him. I swear he says mom and no already. Haha. Not really of course, but he does make the sounds. :) It's such a fun time!

Luca prefers to just sit on dad's lap with him. He will watch movies with us too-- although that only lasts like 15-20 min. We are good parents.

They sat like this for a good 15 minutes last night. Luca just looked around for a bit, and then was hungry so he tried to eat Jose's face, and when that didn't work he growled at him.

The one with the shots

My baby had his first real set of shots today. 4 of them. That was so not fun.

Apparently they have "mixed" ones where they can combine two shots into one, but they were out of them today, of course, so they all had to be separate.

I forced Jose to come with me, because it's not fair that I have to do them all. We were not looking forward to it.

We got there all anxious, but Luca is growing great, he is now 10lbs 9.5oz and 23.4inches long! Yes I'm aware he's still tiny--and I love it and an grateful because I get tired enough carrying him around--but from the barely 7lbs he was last time we were there--it's awesome!

He did so well for the doctor today and didn't cry at all while she checked him over. In fact he was laughing and smiling. He had no idea what was coming next.

And then. Shots. Two nurses came in to do them, so it was way faster than I thought it would be. They asked one of us to hold his hands, and I did not stand up. I just let Jose do that. I stayed on my chair behind the nurses. I did not want to see that.
Here they all are totally faking our child out that something great is about to happen....

Turns out. It is SO much easier to deal with shots when you don't watch your babes face. Of course it still breaks your heart to hear their sad sad cry but it's not half as bad as listening and watching. So that will happen each time I think. It can be Jose's job.

And our sad after shot. See his little tear?

It really was the saddest cry I have heard come from him yet. I am not looking forward to the next ones. No sir.

He did surprising well all day though, I took Sara's advice and gave him medicine before we went this morning which I think helped a lot. However. Next time. I will use the right medicine. And not Advil. Whatever. Tylenol, I got it now.

He just slept most of the day and ate, or just sucked on the bottle for comfort. He was a little out of it at first but not too bad.

He loves talking to his mouse.

We went to the gateway while dad had an interview and I exchanged a purse Jose got me for Christmas. I really did like it--but seeing how I will probably be carrying a diaper bag for the next 10 years I figured it was better to get something I could use now. And what better thing to get than my current obsession. Watches. Jose gave me one for christmas so I got two more.

They make me happy. And Sara wants me to set them to london time so we can always know what's happening over in that land.

Then we ran some errands, target and an oil change. He did well for everything!

While we were waiting on the car we watched ratatouille. Luca liked it. :)

When we got home dad found this awesome onsie Morgan got us and it finally fits him so of course we had to get some pictures.

Grant was begging to see Luca earlier today, so we facetimed him again after his nap--but really he just wanted to see the dogs. Haha.

I'm pretty sure he was crying because this was not a dog. So we found one for him.

And then he was happy again. He's so good at names now. He asked for whoever he wanted to see.
And he now says his last name--we worked on that last night. It's adorable. "Gant poi!"

We have kept medicine in Luca all day but I think he's done really well considering!  We are also starting to add a tiny bit of rice cereal to his bottle to try to help with his spit up--I hope it helps!! We have done 3 bottles with it since his appt, and so far so good--let's hope it sticks.
