Oh my land. My baby is SIX MONTHS OLD!! That is half a year people. What the?! How did that go by so fast?? It has been a whirlwind of changes, crazyness, sleep deprivation, fun and laughter. I wouldn't trade any of it for anything. Not even the super fun teething moments we have been having lately. Being a mommy is the best.
I'm sorry in advance that this post is so long. But I love my child.
Here are some of his monumental moments and favorites.
-He's sitting so well! He just needs to fine tune it a tiny bit.
-He gets up on his knees and rocks to move himself forward for something out of his reach.
-He's not a big crier when he gets hurt. He cries just until someone comforts him, and then it's like it never happened.
-He loves loves when I sing to him. Not well I might add. We do, once there was a snowman (he loves she he gets to go small again), bingo, shake your whammy fanny, and horsey horsey on a multi-daily basis.
-He loves to be outside. We take lots of walks and let him ride on the swings, which is also one of his favorite things to do.
-He gives slobbery cheek kisses, and the occasional raspberry if your cheek gets close enough to him, or if he just wants too, he will pull your face to him.
-He's a teething monster lately. Those guys have to be so close to popping out. His attention span has dropped because of this to about 2-3 minutes. Which is not my favorite.
-He plays with and pulls on his ears all the time. It's like a built in toy for him. Helpful for me.
-He sneezes like daddy half the time and like me half the time. The daddy half is accompanied with a huge yell before the sneeze, AHHHH ahchoo! And the mommy times is multiple sneezes.
-He is super ticklish and has learned that it is okay to laugh at that instead of cry.
-He is drinking out of a big boy cup, and doing incredibly well with it.
-He wants any and all food. If we are eating he watches every movement and begs for some.
-Some of his current favorite foods are, black beans, oranges, strawberries, bananas (of course), pears, and frozen anything.
-He takes the sacrament with us as church, just a little bit of my bread and water, and he LOVES the water.
-He will sit quietly with his arms folded (by me if course) for (short) prayers.
-He is rolling over like nobodies business. He goes so fast back and forth and is smart enough to get to things he wants that way.
-He has been scooting backwards and forwards lately, more backwards. He lifts his bum in the air and pushes from his arms or feet.
-He no longer sits in an infant car seat, we just have a rear-facing big boy one now. He loves being able to sit up and play. He always wants to be sitting or standing, he hated his infant car seat and would try to sit up in it, and would yell when it wasn't possible because he was buckled. So we decided to switch them out after our trip.
-He sits in all the shopping carts and loves to people watch. And responds to them when they talk to him and tell him how cute is his. No shyness yet. He will give most people the smile they want.
-He is finally on track with his clothes and fits in 6 month, and some 9 month shirts. He is still a long and skinny babe so the clothes are sometimes baggy because he never fills them out before they are too short.
-Since teething he's lost a little of his independent streak. Now if I am not in his view or holding him he thinks I've left him forever and will call out for me, loudly.
-Last time we weighed him (at the airport on the bag scale or at Walmart in a produce scale--don't judge me, I was curious) he was 15.5lbs. His doctors appt is on Friday so we will see if those are accurate at all!
-When he wakes up he is just the happiest child. He chats to himself and laughs until I go get him, and if I'm holding him while he's sleeping and he wakes up the second his eyes open he has the biggest smile on his face.
-He loves loves loves the arthur theme song. No matter what is happening, the mood he is in, or what he is doing, he will stop and find it and watch it through.
-In general it's music that can catch his attention. He's just like his daddy. He loves it. He loves to watch/listen to musicals, frozen, and Arthur's perfect Christmas are favorites right now.
-He still loves when daddy gets on the floor with him to play and make funny noises, he's been copying some of them. They have strange conversations back and forth.
-He has flown with me to ohio and back, and he did phenomenal! I was worried about that, mostly the taking off and landing with the hurting ears, but he proved that theory false and fell asleep during at least one of those parts, but usually both of each flight.
-Like all children he wants to play with anything he's not supposed too, our phones, the remotes, our food, etc.
-His favorite toys lately have been not toys at all. Sometimes I wonder why we even spend money on real toys. He prefers Tupperware, plastic cups, the formula scoops, and any plastic packaging.
-If something is covering his face he will pull it off, a blanket, wipes (yes I put them there), toys, books, buckets, anything.
-He will use his feet to move toys closer to him, or keep them from moving away from him while he plays.
-He will reach for you if he sees you are going to pick him up. Or at least me. Jose hasn't gotten him to do it for him yet.
-He still talks up a storm, and yells often. Usually when we are in public and shopping. He has a very high pitch squeal he does constantly as well.
-He tries so so hard to pick up puffs from the high chair tray. He gets super concentrative, but eventually ends up pushing them all off when he can't pick them up.
-He spits and blows bubbles on a daily basis, and drools a ton.
-His spit up has gone down SO much and I am grateful. He still spits up but not even half as much as he did. We are on the downhill people! Yay!
-He chews on his toes, and I swear has a goal to get his whole foot into his mouth one day. And he's pretty close.
-He understand when I say "I'm all done" and or do the "all done" sign, and calms down. Like when I'm wiping his face after food, or getting an angry child dressed, or pouring water over his head in the tub.
-He loves to read, the touch and feel books are his favorite.
-He is super good at standing and holding on to something. He does it all during sacrament meeting, and on the couches.
-He prefers to be held across my body if he needs to nap instead of up on my shoulder now.
-He is super cuddly, especially just after he wakes up. He rests his cheek against mine and just hangs out there for a bit until he's woken up completely.
-He holds his own bottle completely now, and even picks it up when it falls and 80% of the time can get it back in his mouth to keep drinking.
-He rolls to get out of anything I lay him in or on, but has yet to fall out. I am knocking on wood right now.
I cannot fathom my life without my baby. However. Slowing it down would be appreicated.
Happy half birthday to my child! (Don't worry. I'm not a crazy that celebrates these, only this first one. And we aren't actually celebrating. Just reminiscing.)
