The one with the "basics"

Well. I think our immigration appointment went well!! We still have to wait a few days (up to 30...so maybe a little more than a few. But it makes me feel better to say a few--waiting blows.) before we hear the official decision but I can't see why they would deny Jose.

Our officer was super sweet, and a grandma--we were super grateful for her personability. She put us at ease and helped calm us down.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. I don't know why in the world our country has to be so dang difficult to join. People come here for better lives and freedoms, but I'm sure some of them feel it's not even worth it sometimes with all the hoops they have to jump through. And a lot of it is kind of pointless. I mean "are you a terrorist?" What kind of question is that? Who in their right mind would answer yes??

Anyway. I am grateful and feel blessed that we got such a great lawyer and officer today. We have begun another waiting process and hope it will all be over soon so our stress and anxiety levels can go down.

Jose's mom asked us if we wanted to go shopping with her today--and she would get us the "basic" things that we needed.  So I figured, milk, eggs, cheese, bread and maybe some produce.
However. This...

Is not "just the basics." When we got there she was already there and already had a cart full of stuff that she had picked out for us.
The moral of the story:: don't believe it when you're inlaws say, "just the basics." :)
They are very generous and I'm grateful for them. They really have kept us alive since Jose has been unemployed. As much as I hate feeling like a charity case and accepting all the things they want to help us with, I feel very blessed.

To top everything off they took us to Olive Garden for dinner. It was delicious. And of course Luca got passed around the entire table. Although this is the only picture I got.

He has a new favorite toy, and he loves shaking it to make it rattle, and gets incredibly mad and frustrated when he cannot get the entire thing in his mouth. Although he does chew on it.

He likes that he can stick his hands through the holes easily.
It's the ball he gets mad at and growls at when he can't fit it in his mouth. I will have to get a video of it soon.

We went from having only a few toys this morning, to having an overload of toys tonight. Thanks to our awesome neighbor--Jen who gave us a bunch, and an awesome jumper (I can't wait for Luca to use it!) and grandma Rosie who also thought toys were a basic need today at the store. :)

We are very blessed.
